The Kingdom of Slavs by the Benedictine monk, writer and historian from Ragusa (modern Dubrovnik) Mauro Orbini (~1550–1614) describes the history of Slavic nations from the early Middle Ages to the end of the 16th century. The author regards other nations from the Baltic Sea region as Slavic as well. The book describes important events in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania that took place in the end of the 14th century and the beginning of the 15th century: the Union of Krėva, signed by the Grand Duke of Lithuania Jogaila and the noblemen of Poland in 1385, the 1385 wedding of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Jogaila and the Queen of Poland Jadvyga, and the Christening of Samogitia (p. 56–58).
