The impressionistic autumn landscape creates a vibrant atmosphere within a sunny autumn’s day. Interestingly enough, the log in the foreground bears the colours of the Lithuanian flag – yellow on the top, green in the middle and red at the bottom. Of course, this element does not necessarily draw the eye of the viewer because the entire painting is a dance of autumn colours, but this certainly reveals the painter’s self-identity. Two children are walking down the pathway of fallen leaves, one of whom is a small boy, while the other is a slightly older girl. On the right of the composition lies a batch of leaves, all painted using long strokes, while the left side depicts them dispersing and fading away. Flares of light in the trunks of the trees and in the colourful leaves do not explain a significant plot, but they do express a random, yet spectacular, moment in daily life.
