EVENT PROGRAM

11:00–13:00 | Creative workshops for families

What would M. K. Čiurlionis's birthday be without creative discoveries? We invite both young and old to discover M. K. Čiurlionis's world through creativity and to embark on creative workshops inspired by memories of his close surroundings, music, fairy tales, and deep reflections. Using charcoal, pastels, and their pigments, we will experiment with different techniques, search for unexpected textures, layer colors, paint with fingers and brushes, and create unique worlds inspired by Čiurlionis's work.

12:00 PM | Themed tour "Čiurlionis' Harmony"

4:00 PM | Themed tour "Čiurlionis' Harmony" (in English)

We invite you to explore M. K. Čiurlionis's world not only by looking at his paintings but also by listening to his music. During the tour, stories about one of Lithuania's most prominent creators will be accompanied by live performances by a guide of harmonized Lithuanian folk songs by M. K. Čiurlionis. This is a unique opportunity to deeply feel the spirit of the artist's work and his connection to Lithuanian folk tradition. The tour is led by educator Armandas Čiapas.

2:00 PM | Works by Čiurlionis's teacher Kazimieras Stabrauskas and the Čiurlionis family accordion

Dr. Virginija Vitkienė, General Director of the National M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum and art historian, will present works by Čiurlionis's teacher and artist Kazimieras Stabrauskas, exhibited for the first time in the M. K. Čiurlionis painting exhibition.

Organ restorer Professor Girėnas Povilionis will talk about the Čiurlionis family accordion and perform several pieces on this instrument brought back to life.

This is a great opportunity on the festive day of M. K. Čiurlionis's birthday to get a closer look at the work of artist Kazimieras Stabrauskas, which Dr. Jaunius Gumbis donated to the museum, and to hear the sound of a unique instrument that recalls Čiurlionis's era.
